I am so excited the new year is here! 2019 was a rough year and I'm so glad to have it behind me. I'm back to blogging with my best dressed picks from the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards!
I love seeing Helen Mirren on the red carpet! She always looks stylish and comfortable while having a blast and wearing this burgundy Dior gown was no different. This look proves that off the shoulder styles can look great at any age. The 3/4 length sleeve keeps the style from looking too formal and the contrasting underskirt was a fun reveal when she twirled.
Last, but not least my favorite look is Joey King in this amazing dress by Iris Van Herpen. I love the optical illusion created by the print of the fabric and the shape of the dress. What's even trickier is the curvature of the lines beginning at the waist and extending down into the hips that create a flattering silhouette verses a bulky one. I also love the unique sleeve/cape piece as well.
There were so many gorgeous looks on the red carpet at the SAG Awards this year it was hard to narrow down my favorites!
Awards season is definitely upon us! After the blackout at the Golden Globes it was nice to see color galore at the Critics Choice Awards 2018. Below are my favorite looks from the event.
Wonder Woman shined in this gorgeous silver Prada gown! It's elegant and powerful, perfect for our heroine to accept the award for Best Action Film!
For some reason Angelina Jolie in Ralph and Russo has shown up on both worst and best dressed lists. Perhaps this is a love it or hate it dress. In that case, I love it! I love designing with feathers and the asymetrical hem gives a flirty, modern feel.
Some worst dressed lists out there have called out celebrities for being too casual for a black-tie affair. Sorry, but the Critics Choice isn't the black-tie affair the Globes or Academy Awards are. Laura Dern's Balmain ensemble perfectly straddles the line of formal and casual chic. The peak of her lace bra takes a deep v-neck from vampy to flirty.
This dress by Oscar de la Renta and Tyler Ellis didn't grab me at first, not until I saw a better photograph of it. After digesting it a little I really love it! It's really fun and flirty with the sheerness of it, and sophisticated at the same time. The Critics Choice Awards is a fun and more light-hearted event than the Globes and this dress captured that perfectly.
I love the ethereal quality of this dress, but with the punch of pink. The uneven hem and color lends to a youthful and adorable dress up vibe, but the fitted bodice and perfect styling make it mature and refined.
Sarah Hyland's look here makes me think of Carrie Bradshaw in the opening credits of Sex and the City. The Naeem Khan look is simple, but fun.
I've never considered Laurie Metcalf a style icon, but here she is looking ultra glamorous. I love this look from head to toe. She nailed her look for the Golden Globes and she did it again here. I also love that she's wearing designers on the rise. Shout out to her stylist, whoever you are! I can't wait to see what she wears next!
My favorite look of the night goes to Jaimie Alexander in this Georges Chakra dress. The train of the dress makes it elegant while the shorter hem in front shows off Jaimie's great legs. The deep v neckline and nude underlay of the dress gives the illusion of showing a lot of skin, but that gorgeous train balances it out.
